#Local4Action Launch
Convened by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), in collaboration with University College London (UCL) and London School of Economics (LSE).
Local government representatives, youth participants, academic partners and project staff come together to discuss strategies and tools for strengthening young people’s meaningful engagement in local governance. The session presents the YUP Project, which works with partners in Lebanon and Indonesia to co-produce urban digital platforms for youth participation. Drawing on citizen science research and collaborative encounters between young urban citizens and local government partners, the dialogue explores how young people’s knowledge, priorities and experiences inform urban policy and planning. It also reflects on the opportunities and challenges of institutionalizing youth participation in knowledge production as a pathway toward more inclusive urban citizenship.
