—13:30
Tracks: Assembly
Venue: Room B / Atlantic

Convened by UCLG Regions.

This high-level session will explore the evolving political and strategic role of regions in shaping territorial development, multilevel governance, and more balanced development in an increasingly fragmented global context. As key actors connecting national strategies with local implementation, regions play a critical role in territorial cohesion, economic transformation, public service delivery, climate action, and investment attraction. The discussion will launch the UCLG Forum of Regions’ 2026–2030 strategic reflection, positioning the Forum as a stronger political platform within global governance. Anchored in the Local Social Covenant, the session will examine regional economic diplomacy, territorial intelligence, polycentric development, and new partnerships for inclusive territorial transformation.
